Today they slept. And slept and slept. I didn’t wake anyone for daycare. School is on spring break. With yesterday being such a long day, I decided to let them decide when they wanted to rise from their beds.
7:00?
7:30?
Surely 7:45?
At 8:09 I checked the cameras.

By 8:20 the sleeping beauty wandered out. She was surprised to see me sipping coffee by myself in the living room. At 8:40 I decided I needed to get the boys out of bed. They were happy to see me apparently just resting quietly in their beds waiting for mommy to wake them for daycare. Off we went.
McKenna and I decided to start our first day of commitment free spring break with some quality time. We wandered into our local nail shop and chose our pedicure colors. We were both in desperate need of some tootsie TLC. We gabbed and relaxed as our lively technicians worked their magic. We realized too late that McK’s shoes just weren’t going to work so I had to carry her to the car like a sack of potatoes while carefully trying not to slip out of my own oiled up flip flops. I’ve picked up the boys from day care and headed home.

The baby’s afternoon nap was had while I prepped pasta salad for dinner. The big kids snacked on the cut veggies and drove mom crazy until dad made it home from the office. Now it’s just past 8:00pm. The boys are in bed and I can hear the musings of Kindly Keyin from the living room. Aaron is finishing up a project in the home office as I am recouping from a day of parenting while emotionally hungover from the past week.
Do we have any real plans for this spring break? Not really. But I’m OK with that. We all need a bit of time to rest. We will fill our days with a few baking projects and crafting sessions. We still have to do the day-to-day things to keep our household running. But that is enough.
That is actually plenty for this very spent mom.

Sounds like a perfect time.
