My kids have almost always reached for my morning coffee. Occasionally I would let them have sips. But after a while I started to worry about stunted growth and caffeine craziness.

That’s when chocolate coffee was created. I would use my handy Nespresso Aeroccino to warm some milk with a bit of froth. Then the kids would add a couple of scoops of the very cheapest best hot cocoa powder and some Lucky Charms marshmallows bought in bulk from Amazon. They would add a couple ice cubes to cool it off then slurp it up. They would enjoy their coffee as I enjoyed mine. It was the perfect compromise to let them feel grown up while letting me feel less guilty about a toddler caffeine addictions.

What a good idea. My little grandchildren love the grown-up-ness of having a coffee.

My mother-in-love made our kids “milk coffee” by adding a few drops of coffee and sugar to warm milk. Like your kids, they enjoyed drinking theirs with their grandma! Thanks for being this fond memory back to me today!

Fun! This is actually what my husband drinks every morning now, lol. He started coffee late on life and then after a while, realized the caffeine was causing some physical problems, so he had to stop. But he loved the ritual of drinking something warm first thing in the morning. So cocoa it was!
