Did you ever just have a day? When everything that could test your limits just blew right past them?
That was today.
Little man has been waking up at 4:00 AM all week. My alarm goes off at 5:15 so I’m pretty much running on empty by the time I wander into the house at 9:00 PM or so. Classes have been extra stressful the last couple of weeks and I need to pass another certification test next month on top of it.
There’s a lot on my plate at work so naturally I volunteered to add another thing. I don’t mind doing it at all–it’s actually quite interesting. But when I’m already stretched thin with standardized testing, I should just probably learn to keep my mouth shut. Luckily I was able to make some long term schedule changes that’ll make my offer to help a lot easier to balance.
Then there is always that thing you don’t want to do. But you know you should do it. It’s for the best and once you do it you’ll feel some relief. Let’s say…going to the dentist. It’s one more thing to add to your already terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. It’ll be uncomfortable in the short term. It may even hurt a little…tears are possible. But when it’s done, you’ll look at yourself in the mirror and know it was a good thing that you did it.
As soon as I finish up this last task, I’ll be glad that I did it. But in the meantime, I’ll be needing a little novocaine to numb all these feelings.

It’s ok to say no. I learned the class Halloween party will go on without me and be just as nice. Remember don’t set yourself on fire to keep others warm. And the dentist has become a spa day, time of quiet with feet up and little something doesn’t hurt.
We’re all very proud of all you do and what a great example to your kids!💞

I wish it was as easy as going to the dentist. Sometimes you just have to do the hard things. Thanks for the pep talk.

This perfectly sums up the hard work it is to be a working mom who is also in grad school- all worth it in the end, but sometimes the middle is a bit messy….I hope you get some down time this weekend!
