After 31 consecutive slices, I am sad to say, I am sliced out. I’ve written about my kids, husband, and mom. I’ve sliced about my job, mental health, snacks and Taylor Swift.

Continue readingEaster is tomorrow and we have been busy prepping. The baskets have been made except for a few last minute things being delivered today. The eggs are boiled. We’ve planned and shopped for the brunch menu. We are hosting Aaron’s side of the family tomorrow for Easter and April birthdays. We have McKenna, Aaron and my BIL to celebrate.
Continue readingI have a blank wall in my dining room. I have always wanted a giant mirror for that spot but never found one big enough that wouldn’t literally cost me an arm and a leg. I’ve thought about it a lot over the years and nothing has really suited my tastes.
Continue readingHer birthday is in a week and a half. She’s been planning her party for almost a year. Seriously…since her last birthday at the roller rink. I think she came home and started looking up party ideas for her pre-double digit celebration.
Continue readingThey played on their iPads this morning. George has been building tree houses and other things in Minecraft. I have no idea what he is talking about when he tells me all about but so I just nod my head and smile. Theo played Starfall before moving on to watch Blippi and Meekah. McKenna has been obsessed with reading. She downloads books from Libby to read or listen to while she crochets. Yes. She is an old lady stuck in an almost 9 year olds body.
Continue readingToday was cold and rainy. We had originally hoped to go to the zoo but that wasn’t in the cards. So today was reserved for an indoor activity with would still wear the kids out.
We decided to check out our local children’s museum. I hadn’t been here since well before Covid so it was fun to see Theo trying to keep up with the big kids. Did you know that if your child has an IEP or 504 plan or participates in early intervention, your family qualify for a $25 annual membership to the DuPage Children’s Museum? Other qualifiers include SNAP benefits, foster child, refugee/asylum stays, Medicaid, All-Kids or Section 8, WIC or childcare subsidies.
Continue readingWhen McKenna was just a little one, she created a Spring Break Bucket List. It was a fun week spent going to the zoo and museums, jumping in puddles, and having carpet picnics. We haven’t had that kind of spring break since. Grad school and babies and Covid all got in the way. So this year when Aaron said he took the week off, he and I made some tentative plans and asked the kids what they wanted to do.
Continue readingInspired by Britt Escribe’s first slice this month…5-4-3-2-1. A quick reflection of my past week. How do you reflect?
Continue readingWe have a bonus kid spending the night tonight. The boys had been playing a bit of over-the-door basketball when George knocked his tooth on the doorknob. OUCH. It was an accident that could have happened to anyone but of course it happened to my Gentle George.
Continue readingI often blame myself when things go wrong. Don’t we all? I don’t know if it is a mom thing or a woman thing or a human thing. But I’ll tell you what. I don’t often see a dad blaming himself for not foreseeing that their kid was going to need new shoes for Easter.
