SOL25: 15 easy as riding a bike

She’s been riding a hand-me-down bike for the last couple years. At the end of the summer, I noticed it was time to upgrade to a bigger frame. I made a mental note of it and brushed it from my mind.

Then last week we got our first real taste of spring. The beautiful sunny days had her trying to ride the way too small bike. When she hopped on, her knees were hitting the handle bars. Her birthday is coming up in less than a month so now is as good as time as any.

Today was one of those breezy warm days perfect for running around in the fresh air. After lunch with Great Grandpa, we went to search for the perfect bike. We went to three stores after having already browsed online to find a few possibilities. She just couldn’t decide between a purple bike and one with a whole lot more pizzazz. I think she liked the idea of the bells and whistles of the purple bike but longed for the colorful design of the other.

She hemmed and hawed for what seemed like hours. She was afraid she would regret her choice even though I assured her she couldn’t go wrong with either. Finally she finally made a decision and we loaded it into the car.

Upon arriving home she took it out for a spin. She came running back into the house and I was scared she had fallen based on the speed she bounded into the kitchen. Nope. She just wanted to tell me she made the right decision because it was just so easy to ride. The snazzy bike with colors as bright as her personality was easily the right decision.

That smile says it all.
