11SOL24 sick house

Yesterday we had my son’s Scout Blue and Gold Dinner. We packed up the whole family to go together. Even Great Grandpa and Regular Grandpa joined us. George was so excited to win a trophy for the Pinewood Derby Backwards Race. McKenna and George both ran around with friends while Theo spent most of the time snuggled up on my lap. I assumed it was the damn DST messing with my usually feral toddler.

Look how excited he is!!

After everyone had eaten pizza and scarfed down the last of their chocolate cake, we headed home for the evening. We tried for an early bed for at least the boys. They fought a little bit but finally settled around 8:00. It was 9:30 before we could even get McKenna to go to her room. At 11:00, I heard the all familiar whimper coming from the boys’ bottom bunk. I went in to settle Theo but it only lasted a few minutes before he ended up in my bed.

Around 3:00 AM, Theo bolted upright and said he needed water. I got him a drink and sent him to his own bed.

How to cram eight hours of sleep in only 3? Hmm…

4:30AM—MOMMY! I HAVE TO GO POTTY!

I will never understand why my kid needs to wake me up to tell me this.
JUST GO!

A moment later I hear a wail from the bathroom. George’s belly hurt. Thinking back to the speed he took down that chocolate cake, I’m not surprised. Five minutes later he’s puking. When he’s sure he’s done, we get him cleaned up, line my bed with towels, and he settles in. No more vomiting. But no more sleeping, either. We are both exhausted. He’s had two more episodes since last night.

I start to get Theo ready for school when he announced his belly hurt, too. OMG. I cannot this week. I am over scheduled to say the least.

Pretty sure that Theo is having sympathy pains for his lounging brother, I bring him to daycare. At lunchtime, Aaron texts to say he called Theo in sick to PreK and he was coming home for the afternoon. We cannot win. At 6:50pm, we are all in mom and dad’s bed watching Taylor’s concert for a few more minutes before tossing the boys into their beds, where hopefully no one else pukes.

I hope this sick clears the house quickly. Spring break is in two weeks. I am slammed until then. We already have two(ish) down with three to go if we are all going to get it. If Theo is feeling OK tomorrow, he can go back to school—no actual throw ups. George is RIGHT ON the 24 hour puke free cusp for when the bus arrives in the morning. We will see what tonight brings.

Sleep. I hope it brings sleep. For all of us.
