Being a mom is HARD. I just want some uninterrupted sleep. Is that too much to ask? It must be since I’m slicing about this twice in just 5 days.
George woke up to eat at about 1am. I heard him start to stir and hoped he would put himself back to sleep. No luck. Just as I finished his bottle and got him back down, I heard McKenna crying in her room.
Apparently she had a bad dream about forgetting me outside because I fell in the snow. 😳🙄 as much as I enjoy her being able to tell me things, the middle of the night is not when I want to hear them. Got her all settled in only to discover her sippy had spilled all over her blankets. 🤦🏻♀️ She’s finally tucked back in with dry blankets and George starts coughing AGAIN…coughing so hard that he puked all over his swaddle. 🤢
OMG.
I’m so tired when he finally quiets and I climb back into bed. It’s about 2:15. George is still sleeping but McKenna is still awake.
As a matter of fact, almost 30 minutes later, she’s still WIDE awake! And having a great time at at as you can see. I certainly cannot go back to sleep if she’s playing this game.
In the words of Samuel L. Jackson: Go. The. F*ck. To. Sleep.
Finally, everyone is out cold and I can close my own weary eyes. But not for long. At 4am the whole things starts over again with both kiddos alternating being awake for the next hour or so. 😭
So now it’s 8am. George has been fed and changed. McK had her yogurt. We decide to climb into my bed for a morning cuddle and a movie. Hopefully we will all doze for a little while but I think probably not. Thank you Casimir Pukaski for the day off. Mama needs this.

Aubrey went through this a month or so ago….3am party time in her room….some days I don’t even know how I function without uninterrupted sleep! Love the visuals to go with this slice!

OMG, your kids are adorable! My wife and I are living this reality now, too; although, it’s not typically a multiple kid event anymore since my two oldest are now 6 and 8 and sleeping through the night. But the two-year old…nope, we’re still up every night. Your writing captures the complicated mixture of love and frustration we feel as parents, for sure! Love the Samuel L. Jackson quote- I know that book well. Thanks for sharing this!

Ugh, sounds like a rough night. Although, if it were me, if they were both quiet, after the clean ups, I would have turned on some white noise in my room and gone to sleep!! 🙂
Glad you have the day off to rest!

Thanks for reading. If she hadn’t been trying to climb INTO her headboard I would have fallen asleep. I got nervous!
