3 SOL 26: Collectors

Our public library is pretty awesome. I mean—I haven’t been to any library that wasn’t amazing, but ours is especially great. The only thing that would make it better would be to mediate the parking situation.

Just outside the really cool children’s area, there are these display cases. There are probably 10 of them. They are like little trophy cases. Each year, children can sign up to have their names pulled to display their very own collection. It’s GENIUS. The cases are updated monthly and the librarians don’t have to do it!

These case assignments are VERY coveted. Last year I logged on just 3 minutes after the Google form opened and I couldn’t even submit their names. This year I was able to register all three kids. Unfortunately, just the boys’ names were pulled. I knew McK would be devastated. Luckily for us, our library is also very flexible. They said our family could use the 2 cases in March any way that we wanted to. George and Theo decided on displaying a portion of their enormous Hot Wheels collection in a double size case. McKenna displayed her rocks, shells, and gems in a small one.

So this past Sunday we gathered our things and headed to the library. As usual, the parking sucked. But they all had so much fun placing each and every item in the cases. They will be on display for an entire month before some other local kids get to take their turn.
