Any other Girl Scout parents out there? Anyone knee deep in cookie boxes, delivery bags, and booths? It’s…a lot
McKenna joined Girl Scouts in 2nd grade. The world had just returned to “normal” after Covid and she was itching to do something social. We thought Girl Scouts would be a good way to surround herself with positive influences while learning new things. Win-win.
Then cookie season started. It’s a full time job. But McKenna loves the booths and organizing all boxes at they come in. Sorting cookies is her JAM. Plus, the funds she makes from the sales go toward events like camping and crafts and science learning. It’s worth it.

As we were leaving a cookie booth last year, we saw a more experienced, older troop setting up the coolest system. McKenna had been talking about it ever since whenever cookie season became the topic of conversation. We checked with the leaders and they gave us the thumbs up. McKenna and I got to work. Isn’t it adorable?!

This year, McKenna met her modest personal goal of 100 boxes during her first round of sales. She worked a few booths and even did a solo sale at a restaurant owned by her aunt and uncle. There she sold a whopping EIGHTY THREE boxes on her own. We were so proud of her. She was so proud of herself.
Then the Goal Getter session started. I’m not exactly sure why it is different. But it’s a separate patch so of course she wanted to participate. I picked up our cases of cookies from the Cookie Cupboard this week. Today she got to sorting and packing her orders. I think (hope) this is the last of the cookies. It’s been quite the season.

We are a little past the cookie days with our girls, but I sure remember it well; standing at a cookie booth in the freezing cold and trying to stay cheerful even though I couldn’t feel my toes! The cookies were $4 when we sold them, lol! Congratulations to your sweet girl – her happy smile says it all!

I know. If she didn’t love it so much I would abstain.

Yes, the cold! Whhhhhhy does cookie season have to be in the middle of the oldest months of the year?!?! We got lucky for a few booths over the years, with a random 40 or 50 degree day in late Feb or early March, but mostly I was freezing!

There were a couple in barely above zero degree weather. Ugh.

Uuuuugh. We may have had to cancel if it was that cold. I have raynauds and can’t take the cold. I guess my husband could have gone with her 😁
But yeah, that’s rough.

My daughter was is girl scouts for 4 years. Covid was right smack in the middle of it so she didn’t get the best experience for a couple years but she still got to do cookies at some point. And omg, I was so relieved the first cookie season after she stopped girl scouts! It was fun and I enjoyed watching her at booths and talking to neighbors to sell. But it was also so stressful. I’m glad she did it but also glad that I can just order for my nieces now!
I love the colored boxes for booths! That is such a good idea and so pretty and cute!
