It’s that time of the year again when we have a mini getaway with the kids and Great Grandpa. Last year I wrote about the things I do to make this trip more tolerable and run just a little smoother. I have done all those things and probably a few more.

This year, I’m going to let you in on what I don’t do.

Kids say the funniest things. Do your kids have silly names for things? Do they say phrases that make you laugh? Do they say something and your think, Are you for real?!?

Mine sure do!

In a recent session, my therapist could see my mind was spiraling. I was talking a mile a minute in a stream of consciousness that even the Micromachine Man would have had trouble keeping up with.

I know very few will get that reference. 

Inspired by Slice of Lisa’s 3 Things post structure from last year, I am going to write 5 Things lists on each of the days with 5 in them. Today I’m going to start with: My Top 5 Favorite Books.

I’ve worked really hard to be a little more positive. I’m trying to be a glass half full kind of girl. In that spirit, being present in my day rather than my nose in the phone, here are ten things that made me smile today.

What was your coming of age book, movie or album? For me, it was The Outsiders even though it was published in 1967… a full 10 years before my birth. How was S.E. Hinton just 15-18 years old when she wrote a book that shaped a generation…or two or more? It’s mind boggling.

They’ve never had proper Easter baskets. They had some cheap Dollar Tree things with their names pressed onto them but 2 of the three have gone missing. Since I recently started crocheting, I had an idea.

Me:  My webinar starts in a two minutes. Can you grab my computer backpack out of the car before you run over to Girl Scouts?  It’s on the front seat.
