Inspired by Slice of Lisa’s 3 Things post structure from last year, I am going to write 5 Things lists on each of the days with 5 in them. Today I’m going to start with: My Top 5 Favorite Books.

Say Goodnight, Gracie
by Julie Reece Deaver
I read this YA book as maybe a 12 year old. It was one of the first books that truly moved me to tears. I was a blubbering mess. I felt so grown up reading it. I think it solidified my love for reading.

The Rent Collector
By Camron Wright
This book hit me in all the feels. It’s about the power of literacy and the gifts it brings to you. It made me realize that I love books about books.

My Friends
Fredrik Backman
I read this book recently having loved every book by this author. But this one…this one had me stopping to send direct quotes to my notes app. It had me weeping. As soon as I finished it, I started it again.

The Correspondent
By Virginia Evans
This VERY NEW book really seemed to be written to be an audiobook. It was so beautifully moving. I kept thinking—how is this a debut novel? Why can’t I read everything this author has written.

I Love to Gobble You Up
By Sandra Magsamen
I have probably read this book well over one thousand times. My oldest loved it so much that we read it every night for years—long after the book fell apart. Then I “read” it to her two brothers although I’m not sure they even know it is a book. I’m pretty sure they assume it is a poem I made up as a way to smother them with kisses while giving them a goodnight tickle.
What are your favorite books?

I am writing for the 19th annual Slice of Life challenge presented by Two Writing Teachers.
