22 SOL 26: grannies

They’ve never had proper Easter baskets. They had some cheap Dollar Tree things with their names pressed onto them but 2 of the three have gone missing. Since I recently started crocheting, I had an idea.

It started with a ton of algorithm fed crochet videos. Nothing in particular but things that piqued my interest. Then there were a few about little bags and pouches. I would occasionally linger before scrolling. I eventually landed on all sorts of totes but they seemed way too complicated for me to do after work while also managing kids and watching TV.

Finally. FINALLY the answer was served to me on a Facebook silver platter.

It seemed simple enough. I could skip the lining and add some simplified straps. I could make three of them in their favorite colors. I could do this all after they fall asleep at night so it’ll be a secret.

That’s where it fell apart. My kids don’t sleep. I made up some BS story about working on a project for a coworker. The boys fell for it but McKenna kept questioning and harassing me. I gave in but swore her to secrecy.

Tonight I finished the last one. They are adorable. I accidentally sewed on Theo’s straps incorrectly but I think I’ll leave it. I think it gives some character and Theo is quite the character so it is fitting.
