2 SOL 26: Family Movie Nights

My kids are homebodies by nature. They like to hang in the basement playing video games or invent some new silly trick that involves a lot of creeping around on their bellies while sneaking up on daddy to tap his head. This one is called Daddy Don’t See Me.

🤷🏻‍♀️ I don’t get it either.

Weekends evenings are for Family Movie Nights…sometimes even afternoons, too. We typically pile onto the couch or in Mommy & Daddy’s bed to watch a movie the three of them argued about for 20 minutes. Someone almost always stomps off with a gawruff only to return 8-11 minutes later because they hear the giggles they aren’t a part of. Sometimes we watching something from Disney+ or Hulu or Amazon. Other times we will pull out some old school magic from an obscure streaming network to dazzle the kids with a movie from back in our day. This is how they were introduced the Home Alone series

This weekend was Night at the Museum. I had actually never seen it. I was wandering in and out of the living room while it was on before settling in with my handicraft and tuning in. McKenna decided she was too cool for such nonsense but then had a little FOMO and joined us. We laughed and laughed. They watched it again this afternoon.

My kids are great about humoring me when I pull out my phone to take their picture. I’m aways doing this—probably because I lost all my own photos in the great flood of 2013.

I know they won’t always be like this: cuddles, family times silly games. But I am grateful they are for now. Although, I could do without all the You dum-dum. Bring me gum-gum references.

I am writing for the 19th annual Slice of Life challenge presented by Two Writing Teachers.
