SOL 22: a whole lot of togetherness

On not school nights we have a few family traditions I wouldn’t change for the world. We try to have an early dinner. Then we quickly clean up and get into PJs. That’s when we settle in.

Usually George heads to bed around 7:15. McKenna will typically hit the hay at about 7:45/8. Theo is our wild child. He calls the shots on bedtime. I blame it on being a third child during a pandemic. But on Fridays and Saturdays, we have family movie nights.

We often have some sort of yummy treat. The kids get to stay up later. We all pile onto the couch or Mommy and Daddy’s bed and we take turns picking out something to watch. Tonight we are having brownies on the couch and watching Lilo and Stitch. McKenna is snuggled up on my right shoulder. George is using my belly as a pillow. And Theo is sitting on my left hip while simultaneously rubbing George’s head and sucking his thumb. I’m not super comfy but there are few arguments so I’ll take it. It’s about halfway through the movie when Theo decides he is bored enough to start kicking George in the head while hitting me in the ear.

We lasted longer than I expected.

Although it can be frustrating, I still love these nights where we are all cuddled together. When Theo gets excited about every part—showing his excitement with squeals of delight and enthusiastic pointing towards the TV. When George snuggles closer during parts he deems too scary while peeking through his fingers anyway. When McKenna pulls on my arm and giggles during her favorite parts….I feel all the love in our house converge onto one overcrowded couch.

Am I feeling claustrophobic? Yes.
Did I have to pee 30 minutes ago? Sure did.
Has my left foot fallen asleep? Uh-huh.
Would I change anything? NOPE

Not a single thing.
